Help Friends of AFS in Australia (FAFSA)
grow its impact
Friends of AFS in Australia (FAFSA) is a values driven intercultural learning organisation. We offer programs that empower Australians across all generations and walks of life to build global competence and to become global citizens. We are a volunteer-led and managed not-for-profit association offering teens and adults from all over Australia the opportunity to develop their global skills for the 21st century world - at school, at work and at home. Our expertise is founded on more than 60 years of intercultural learning and global competence in Australia.
Marketing and Communications, Partnerships, and Programs
FAFSA invites people who support what we do to consider joining our Board. It is important to understand it is a working Board, which means Board members play an active role in the delivery of our strategic plan. We are particularly keen to add people who can contribute to one (or more) of our program operations, marketing and communication, and the development of partnerships with organisations (including corporations, educational institutions and community groups) that would benefit from participating in our programs.
How we work together
The Board meets in the evening once each month via Zoom for 90 minutes and in person over a weekend at least once each year. Presently, appointments are for one year and renewable; two or three year terms are being contemplated. Board members are expected to take an active role in at least one of the Board’s committees (programs, partnerships, and marketing) and while the role is not remunerated, approved expenses are reimbursed.
